The History of Lock Ridge Furnace

March 17 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Alburtis Lock Ridge Historical Society is producing an event at our local museum! The Lower Macungie Township Historical Society is co-hosting the event. The event is called “The History of Lock Ridge Furnace.” Many people have heard of the place, even have visited the Lock Ridge Park which has the massive remains of the Lock Ridge Iron Works. Some know the history, some don’t, some just speculate. Here is your chance to know the truth behind those massive stone structures, which resemble something out of a medieval movie. We introduce you to Anthracite Coal and the important place it takes in the operation of Lock Ridge. We take you from from the inception of an idea to the demise and destruction of the furnace. Saturday, March 17th, 2018. It’s an afternoon event – 2:00 to 4:00PM. The event is free, and as always donations are graciously welcome. Light refreshments will be served and the museum will be open till 6:00PM. If you have any other questions, please feel free to check out our website at www.alhs18011.org.
