Letter From The Editor
Dear Readers,
After enjoying a fairly mild start to winter, I think the cold weather is here in full force and won’t be leaving any time soon. I’ve spent my entire life living in Pennsylvania and enjoying the change of seasons but can’t say I’ve ever quite warmed up to winter. With shorter days bringing colder nights and lots of time spent inside even the best of us can get a little down.
But, before you settle in for a long winter’s nap, why not challenge yourself to find fun things to do this season? Indulge yourself, your family and your friends and put your winter blues to sleep. My family did and thankfully we are managing to get through the winter doldrums quite well this year.
Turn up the heat with these fun activities: write a short story; make something with your hands; go through old family photos and introduce young children to their heritage; have a classic movie marathon; dance, dance, dance; treat yourself to a day at the spa or a weekend getaway.
Or, instead of avoiding the cold and the snow, look for the best that it has to offer. Embrace the season and take up a winter sport like ice skating, snowboarding, hockey or even sledding. Enjoy these opportunities while they last – after all, they’re only here a short time.
If none of the above activities work to cure your cabin fever, I have one more great idea. Sit in your favorite recliner and read this issue of Lehigh Valley Marketplace. Discovering the Lehigh Valley and all it has to offer is sure to cure the winter blues.
Stay warm,
Amy Hines – Editor
