“When we installed our new windows, customers would ask us where they could purchase new blinds and shades to replace the old dirty ones we had removed for them.” According to Business Manager, Erin Duffield, that’s what led to the creation of Richards Window Fashions in 2001. After purchasing Penn Windows in 1999 (which had been serving the Valley since 1948) window treatments seemed like a natural extension to the organization, so the family-owned business began selling the Hunter Douglas line. Quickly realizing there was a lot more than vertical and mini blinds to offer their customers, Richards expanded their offerings to include remote control shades, shutters, window film and custom draperies. In 2004, Richards Window Fashions became a Hunter Douglas Gallery, completely committing to their products, training and showroom displays.

The recently expanded showroom serves as a great tool for browsing and for learning about the variety of products available. Says Duffield, “we explain what our products will do and sometimes, more importantly, what they won’t do.” In addition to in-home fabric selection, measurement and installment, Richards provides free shade repairs for customers as well as a 5-year service warranty for free in-house repairs. Hunter Douglas updates and introduces new products three times a year, so there is always something new and exciting to see at Richards.

Timothy C. Burke DMD

Since joining his father’s practice in 1986, Dr. Timothy Burke has carried on his father’s tradition of preventative dentistry and incorporating new technologies when appropriate. The core mission of the practice is to provide excellent care in a gentle and comfortable environment with an emphasis on preventing dental emergencies. “Life is busy enough without a dental problem interfering with the regular routine; we do our best to help keep that from happening,” explains Burke. In addition to traditional dental services, Burke offers a variety of newer technologies including CEREC, an in office machine that enables him to make extremely well-fitting porcelain crowns in one visit; Diognodent, a laser unit used to find decay in teeth that isn’t obvious to the eye or conventional instruments and Invisalign, a form of orthodontics which uses clear plastic aligners to move teeth. The practice maintains a friendly and relaxed atmosphere while providing treatment at a high level, ultimately resulting in fewer trips to the dentist.

For more than 10 years, Burke has participated in the Donated Dental Services of Pennsylvania providing dental services to seniors and disabled patients who would otherwise not have access to dental care. He also provides dental work to victims of domestic violence through the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry’s “Give Back a Smile” program.
